| Turtle of Endlessness This Tar Turtle was one of the first works of art that was inspired by the BP oil spill. Tar from the spill was used in this mixed media piece. The endless need for ooil has caused many harmful consequences to the planet. The infinity symbol is in the center of the painting. That is one of the many reasons alternative energy is a necessity. The painting has also incorporated a special pigment recognized by NASA for its use in space program. In the absence of light, the painting, illuminates itself, therefore, becoming another painting. Pelicanos Muertos The haunting images of the tarred pelicans suffering through this disaster ignited an emotional response like no other i have ever felt. The journey to the disaster area was filled with images of people, nature, environmental clean-up crews, & response teams to help alleviate the catastrophe. The pelicans as I have researched symbolize buoyancy and unselfishness. Pelican people can rise to the top no matter what life throws at them. All the suffering by the region can be further symbolized by this dead pelican. Traditionally the power of the pelican teaches you how not be overcome by your troubles, but rather to rise above them.
